Implant Dentures – Jacksonville, FL
The Gold Standard of Renewing Entire Arches
If you’re struggling with severe tooth loss, then you understand how difficult it can be to perform daily tasks like eating and talking. You may have considered getting regular dentures for their reliability and convenience. However, these prosthetics tend to come with certain complications, such as accidental slippage, and they don’t preserve your jawbone from deterioration like dental implants can. Fortunately, at North Jacksonville Complete Dentistry, we can provide the best of both worlds with implant dentures! Keep reading or give our office a call today to schedule your consultation.

What Are Implant Dentures?
While they can replace an entire arch like traditional ones, implant dentures won’t rely on natural suction with the gum line for support. They’ll be directly anchored to dental implants that are inserted into the jawbone. Once the osseointegration process is finished, these titanium posts will be able to serve as your new permanent roots, providing your dentures with an incredibly stable foundation.
Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures
As the name suggests, these types of implant dentures will be permanently secured to your mouth via dental implants. The only one qualified to remove them is your dentist when you visit them for checkups. In between appointments, your restorations should feel completely natural and you’ll simply need to take care of them like your normal teeth, such as brushing, flossing, and rinsing with mouthwash every day.
Removable Implant Dentures
Also referred to as snap-on dentures, these implant dentures can be removed at any time. This is especially necessary when cleaning them, as you’ll want to scrub off any food particles and bacteria from the underside and your gum line. Removable implant dentures also require fewer implants, which is beneficial to patients who have suffered some jawbone deterioration.
The Implant Denture Process
You’ll first undergo a consultation with our team where we’ll review your dental history, assess your oral health, and discuss your smile goals. If we determine that you’re eligible for implant dentures, then we begin your treatment. We may also have to provide preliminary procedures like bone grafting if your jawbone density isn’t sufficient.
Our team can perform the entire implant placement process in-house, that way you can undergo your procedure with someone you already know and trust. After your surgery, you’ll need to wait for your implants to bond with your jawbone through osseointegration, which takes around three to six months. Once this is successful, we can attach your abutments to the metal posts. After you’ve recovered from this, you’ll come back to our office to receive your personalized implant dentures.
